DOING RESEARCH AND FIELDWORK IN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION A-L (BIGNANTE-SORGONI)
The overall purpose of this course is to prepare students for the designing, managing and carrying out of qualitative research projects in the Global South.
In so doing the course aims at providing the skills and research competences required to operate in the context of international development
To achieve this goal there are three related aims:
i) develop the theoretical understanding and practical skills needed to define appropriate research questions, and identify effective design and methods
ii) competently manage the organizational and ethical aspects of research in the Global South
iii) embed acquired knowledge and skills through practice and planning, critically reflecting on real-world projects and applications.
The course is divided in two Modules:
Research Tools and Methods in Socio-cultural Anthropology (Prof. Barbara Sorgoni, anthropologist): from Feb. 19 to March 27
Qualitative Methods in Global South Studies (Prof. Elisa Bignante, geographer): from April 8 to May 15.
The Modules are profoundly intertwined (with a common group work).
Please Note: you need to attend both modules (Research tools and Qualitative methods) to be considered «attending students»
