Latin America is formed by the Central and South American countries, where the official spoken languages are spanish or portuguese. They used to be colonised by Spain and Portugal. It's a very large and heterogeneal area, that share some kind of geographical, linguistical and political continuity, but that is also very much divided into smaller indigenous communities that resisted and survived the colonisation.
