L’insegnamento è inteso come una prima introduzione alle problematiche dell’archeologia dell’Italia preromana (I millennio a.C.), con particolare riguardo alle fasi protostoriche e arcaiche della civiltà etrusca e delle culture italiche (1000-400 a.C.). Si intende in particolare avvicinare gli studenti alla complessità e varietà dei fenomeni storici, ponendo l’accento sul ruolo che gli Etruschi, a alcuni popoli limitrofi hanno svolto nel creare focolai di urbanizzazione, e nell’attivazione di vaste reti di scambio con l’Europa Mediterranea e continentale. Il corso sarà inoltre volto a stimolare un approccio consapevole e critico alle numerose evidenze archeologiche riferibili a queste civiltà presenti nei territori della penisola.
The course is a first introduction to the archaeological and historical issues of pre-Roman Italy (1st millennium BC), with particular regard to the earliest phases of the Etruscan civilization and of the Iron Age Italic cultures (1000-400 BC). It intends to bring students closer to the complexity and variety of historical phenomena, emphasizing the role that the Etruscans and some neighboring peoples played in creating urbanization foci, and in the activation of vast networks of exchange with the Mediterranean and continental Europe. The course will also aim to stimulate a conscious and critical approach to the numerous material evidence referable to these civilizations present in the territories of the peninsula.
