The course will offer an introduction to the theme of the migration-development nexus with a specific attention to the political implications regarding both the sphere of the politics and policy of migration.

The programme is structured into two main parts. The first part will be devoted to the analysis of the main research and theoretical perspectives on the migration-development nexus.

The second part will focus on the political dimension of the migration-development nexus; particularly, the following topics will be considered for thematic deepening: Policies of migration control and implications in terms of development in the areas of origin; Governance and actors of the migration-development nexus at a local, European and global level; Rhetoric and discourses on the migration-development nexus.
