The course aims to provide in-depth knowledge of the political implications of the migration-development nexus, taking into account the analytical frameworks adopted by contemporary studies on international migration.
In particular, by the end of the course, students should be able to:
Know the main theories and approaches to the political implications of the migration-development nexus;
Understand the difference between the different interpretative frameworks and appraoches;
Describe the main problematic issues raised by migration in terms of processes of development in the areas of origin;
Identify key issues pertaining migration management and the planning of policies taking into account the development dimension;
Have a critical understanding of current representations and public discourses concerning the migration-development nexus;
Apply relevant analytical tools in a variety of professional and scholarly contexts.
