Course objective
Objective of the course is to provide graduated students with expertise to interpret, design, and execute statistical procedures normally used in technical and scientific journals. IN ORDER TO RECEIVE ALL COMUNICATIONS, PLEASE REGISTER THIS COURSE PAGE

Expected results
Knowledge and understanding

Students will be able:
to interpret simple univariate statistics, normally appearing on technical and scientific journals.
to understand experimental results based on statistical evidence.
Applying knowledge and understanding

They will be also able to perform the same statistics by themselves using worksheets or statistical software and plan simple experimental designs.
Students will be able:
to manage simple databse deriving main descriptive statistics;
to represent results by means of tables and figures, using spreadsheet;
to perform the statistical test by of worksheets or statistical software;
to plan simple experimental designs.
Making judgements

Student will be able to judge experimental results based on statistical outputs
Communication skills
Students will acquire a proper vocabulary and graphical tools for describing statistical results.
Final examination

Final exam will consists of:

three exercises covering the three main issues of the course to be solved with the help of a PC;

an oral part to assess theoretical knowledge of the student. Duration will be 1h 30 min for the practical session, 15-20 minutes for the oral examination.
